New date for the RRRR rodeo is Presidents Day weekend, February 12th-14th 2010 at the Gila Indian Community Reservation at Wild Horse Pass.

AGRA is a 501c(4) organization incorporated in the State of Arizona and is proud to host the annual RoadRunner Regional Rodeo for IGRA.

They are totally funded by private donations and our membership fees.

It was a day of mistakes, by me, and we were fairly hungry by the end of the line. We started off our trip to Sedona with a bolt in my tire. We detoured to Discount Tire where they fixed it and sent us on our way. We continued on to Sedona. On the outskirts the traffic started getting heavy. Stop and go all they in and out of Sedona. Never did find the Pride Festival. Although I thought I saw something. I made a user error with the GPS, too, and did not get what we wanted or the restaurant where I thought we could eat. So at this point. My daughter is fairly hungry as she did not like the Jamba Juice I got her for breakfast that morning. Via GPS I looked for the closest food place. We found something about honey, but it turned out to be a home that sold honey. Back at the 17 again I tried again. We followed the map to get to Jackson's Grill at the Springs. What a turn of good fortune! Very pleasant surroundings and atmosphere. Food was excellent and the service was superb. Chef Ray was fabulous. He taught us about Horseradish and helped stave off my daughters hunger with some homemade chips. She loved it. The waitress, Ashley, was great, too. I highly recommend this Diamond in the Ruff! Thanks to the GPS for coming up with something fabulous!

Amazon.com has offered a response to the AmazonFail fiasco.

Because there's so much attention to this, I'll offer spokesman Drew Herdener's comments unfiltered:

This is an embarrassing and ham-fisted cataloging error for a company that prides itself on offering complete selection.

It has been misreported that the issue was limited to Gay & Lesbian themed titles – in fact, it impacted 57,310 books in a number of broad categories such as Health, Mind & Body, Reproductive & Sexual Medicine, and Erotica. This problem impacted books not just in the United States but globally. It affected not just sales rank but also had the effect of removing the books from Amazon's main product search.

Many books have now been fixed and we're in the process of fixing the remainder as quickly as possible, and we intend to implement new measures to make this kind of accident less likely to occur in the future.

The American Family Association is calling for a boycott of Pepsi due to their support for the "homosexual agenda" and they are asking their constituents to take action by letting Pepsi know they plan on boycotting.

They are angry because Pepsi donated $500,000 to the Human Rights Campaign as well as $500,000 to Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays(PFLAG)

Pepsi has also marched in pride parades and handed out Pepsi products and paraphernalia in an effort to market to the LGBT community.

In addition PepsiCo has workshops to trains its employees in diversity training which includes educating about sexual orientation and gender identity issues.

The 4th Annual 1 Voice Gala “Elevate” is fast approaching!

It will be here before you know it (Saturday night October 18th at 7pm) on the roof top terrace of the Wyndham Hotel in downtown Phoenix.

This year the Gala will have live entertainment including:
Fashion/dance shows (not to mention fire spinners)...
MC/entertainment: Comedian Julie Goldman from Logo TV off the “Big Gay Sketch Show”
A silent auction with wonderful items for you to purchase...
Hors d'oeuvres and drinks as well (of course)!

What could possibly be better... fashion, dance, and Julie Goldman! The event benefits a charity near and dear to my heart as you all know - 1 Voice Community Center – 1 Voice provides vital services including Wellness, educational, and social programs. We as an organization have been growing bigger and bigger with each passing year. We have experienced the most growth in the last year and a half doubling and in some cases tripling our programs, services and outreach (see http://www.1vcc.org for a complete list of programs/services). We have over 15 LGBT instructors teaching classes as well as over 20 LGBT groups/organizations using the center on a regular basis for meetings and programs (such as the HRC, Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS, Maricopa County, and more...)

Many individuals have come to regard 1 Voice as a central hub and cultural focal point where they feel at home, safe, and feel they can grow within an environment that empowers them to be the best they can be within the community as a whole – gay and straight. This can be seen in areas such as Echo Magazine, where we were nominated by the community for an award as best social organization and also had 3 board members up for distinguished service awards... All these nominations are from the community which shows you the level of outreach we have been able to do and the level of need within the community – which we are very honored to receive.Our goal for the fund raising within this event is to have it help us hire a part time staff member to help run 1VCC and to expand our current space (as we have outgrown it – and I do mean literally).

I want you and your friends/family to purchase tickets to this event... This is a tough fund raising year for many organizations but 1VCC intends to meet its goals for this event with your help.

I recently met the artist of a couple of my horse prints at the Scottsdale Arabian Horse show. Walking in I saw something familiar. One of the vendors had horse prints (imagine that). The style was one with which I was familiar. It was the same style as the two Arabian Prints I have in my home that my parents bought from the Reno Arabian Horse show 24 years ago!

I was surprised at not only seeing the prints, but being able to the artist herself, Carol Ratafia! What a treat!

Of course, I had to get the print of the Corgi!

I am always dissappointed when my husband wants/needs to come by one of your stores instead of Borders. I always enjoy the LGBT section, novels/mysteries. I prefer to go the Borders and drive an extra mile than go to your store nearer us. Where Borders has afloor to ceiling section on LGBT section and a seperate section under sexuality studies, your store as a couple of shelves that mix both andis rather a pathetic showing. I have made my thoughts known at your Val Vista and US 60 store in Mesa AZ. Until this is address in your store, Iwill continue to spend my many dollars at Borders on Southern and Alma School Rd.

Going to Ohio, again, for another week long training. The community seems a bit on the conservative side. They don't have an active LGBT group, as well. Maybe I can get some reading done and immerse myself in a good book.
112 here. Just a tad on the hot side. Washed the cats so they shed less. Room is all ready for Mom to move-in. She will be here Saturday.

Spending a week in Ohio. I still have not recovered from the three time change. The green is everywhere here and I have scene about a dozen or so deer. Some really lovely homes here, too. Work is going well, but am looking forward to going home. I miss my family.

The temperature is getting hotter here. We are looking at many 100+ degree days ahead. Fortunately, I will be heading for Denver to work for a few days where it is a tad cooler. Dry heat is still hot. Much lotion and plenty of water is needed to combat the effects of the hot dry air. While many get to enjoy the pleasures of spring, we in the desert saw merely a blip on the radar that was gone to quickly. Maybe next year.

History of the Gay and Lesbian Movement On June 28th, through 30th, 1969, after continual harassment by the New York City police, the patrons of the Stonewall Bar, located on Christopher Street in Greenwich Village, openly defied the unjustified raids and took to the streets in demand of their civil liberties. These riots continued through the weekend, until Monday morning. The gay crowd numbered over two thousand, and in this act of integrity and self affirmation, the modern Lesbian and Gay Rights Movement was born and was soon formally launched into such organizations as the Gay Liberation Front.

Where is the best place to get a mocha? Starbucks seems to make the best mocha I have tasted. Friends tell be Einsteins has better regular coffee, though. Now the question is which Starbucks to frequent. At this point, I seem to have a preference for the Starbucks on Stapley and the 60 next to the AMC. The one next to Trader Joes on Gilbert is okay, too. Where do you go and why?

Brokeback Mountain

I find it quite interesting the need for some bisexuals to claim Brokeback as a “Bisexual Film”. Why not “Gay Cowboys”? In their day it was incredibly difficult for a Gay man to come out and live a completely different lifestyle. Just because the two men married and/or had relations with women does not make them bisexual. Did I say that? This coming from a woman who abhors labels! If we take a close look at the two characters, we could see Ennis as “Gay” and Jack as “Bi” or both as gay and one more determined than the other to “make normal work”. Jack wanted to live happily ever after with Ennis, but Ennis could not break out of the fear of breaking the normal mold that was instilled in him from a young age. Even at the end we see Ennis’ view of what he thinks happened to Jack; this view stemming from his childhood bias. Brokeback is a story of two men who fall in love in a small town, in a time and place such love is seen as perverted, not normal or crazy. Under those circumstances how does a relationship work and succeed? It did not work because they had been taught; their town and community had been taught to see such relationships as wrong. Why not love and relationships without labels? Why must society be critical of others who merely wish to love one another and live in peace?

I wanted a space where people could come together to discuss questions for which they have found no answere or not the right input yet. I have noticed a lack of community for bisexuals (forgive the label) in the Mesa/Gilbert area and hope to encourage others out there to come together talk, share and enlighten. For those who have no idea yet; sit back and relax. Jump in when you are ready. Just learning? Unsure? Confident? Married? Dating? Nurturing? What is your philosophy on life?
